¡Hola! I would like to introduce myself, as I will be working with your Spanish II/IV student for the remainder of the academic year as a long-term substitute teacher during Señora Memije’s absence. I am a 2013 graduate of SMCC and a 4th year Spanish/English Secondary Education student at Saginaw Valley State University. I will student teach this upcoming Fall and graduate in December 2017. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and learning together. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at [email protected] and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Muchas gracias, Señorita Roelant
SMCC hats off to thee...
As a 2000 graduate of SMCC I am extremely excited to have been blessed with the opportunity to return home to teach. My name is Sara Memije and I will be joining the incredible staff of SMCC this year as the Spanish II and IV teacher. I am married to Carlos Gutierrez and have two wonderful and energetic boys, Xavier (10 years old) and Xander (7 years old) who attend Saint Charles School in Newport. When work and my children are not keeping me busy I love to travel, speak Spanish and dance! We enjoy taking the summer months to explore new places.
My passion for Spanish began in college when I spent a semester abroad in Mexico. From there I decided to continue living in Mexico for about a year before I returned to Michigan to graduate from Siena Heights University with a degree in Spanish. I am certified K-12 Spanish and Elementary General Education K-5. I come to you after working 15 years in the River Rouge School District with experience in a variety of roles. I started as a English as a Second Language Teacher, transitioned into teaching Spanish and then spent the two years teaching 3rd grade.
I am looking forward to getting the year started and having the opportunity to encourage and engage the youth of SMCC in another language! I am truly thankful and blessed.
